Spiritual Gifts…what’s yours?
This past Sunday I preached on Spiritual gifts from 1 Corinthians 12. It’s a passage of scripture worth your read again. The simple summary is that Spiritual Gifts:
Come from the Spirit of God
In a wide variety
Each Christian gets (at least) one
For the common good
God determines which gift you get
Over the years I’ve prayed a prayer for this church congregation that God would bring others and equip our people so that we can become the church God wants us to be. God has been answering that prayer.
At times you’ll notice a gift emerging as you actively engage in various ministries / activities. Other times you’ll learn what is NOT your gift by serving. Both are equally important and aid in the discernment process.
This week I invite you to engage with God in conversation about your spiritual gift(s).
Pray.
Ask what gift God has given, or wants to give, to you.
Read.
Reflect on the Bible passages about spiritual gifts that I’ve listed. (Luke 11:9-13, Romans 12:1-13, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, 1 Peter 4:6-11)
Assess.
Think about the gifts listed, do you identify any of them in yourself?
Have you had a variety of people notice your strength in a certain area? Consider taking a spiritual gift assessment?

As you engage in the process of identifying and using your gifts it can lead to a sense of fulfillment in you and it benefits the people of the church and community. Learning to use our spiritual gifts is an act of discipleship. We learn to use what God has given us to serve others for God’s glory.
May you find joy in the journey,
Pastor Nate.
